This last week I held the Fall Partner Meeting in Chicago, IL. Thank you to my friends at CompTIA for the use of the boardroom. All of my coaching partners were in attendance except for 2 who were affected by Hurricane Sandy and couldn’t make it because they were attending to their clients needs.
The meeting was initially planned to be a best practice meeting, but as we were planning the agenda the topics that came up were more about the how to’s of running an MSP. Some of the topics that were covered were outsourcing NOC and Helpdesk services, Marketing and Lead Generating, Hiring Staff, building a Sales Process and the Cloud. All in all, I was proud of the agenda that we as a group came up with for the meeting.In review with my partners in attendance, they all came away with the tools to implement new processes and practices into their firms immediately. I will say that this one day meeting was a success!!
In addition to our meeting and business discussions, I presented the 2012 Partner Awards. I haven’t given these awards since Spring Training for Business in March 2011. Since I am no longer hosting the Spring Training for Business event, I decided that the Partner Awards will be presented each year at the Fall Meeting. This year I presented only 2 awards. These were the Stephen Faulkner Award of Excellence (formerly the Phoenix Award) and the Partner of the Year award.
The Stephen Faulkner Award of Excellence is named for my friend and former coaching partner Stephen Faulkner, CEO of Cybernut Solutions. Stephen was the first recipient of the Phoenix Award in 2011 and is always an inspiration to me and to others of how to achieve greatness even through difficult times. I wanted to find a way to honor my friend who I speak to quite often and who continues to inspire me. So, I’ve named this award for him. My thanks to you, Stephen, for your friendship and continued inspiration.
I am pleased to announce that Kevin Kilpatrick (pictured with me to the left) from Kilpatrick IT Solutions in Merrimack, NH is the recipient of the 2012 Stephen Faulkner Award of Excellence. In 2012, Kevin hit a number of speed bumps. One of these was losing a huge client that made up a good portion of his business. With hard work, determination and a focus on building a strong network and fantastic marketing campaign, Kevin and his team not only to found new revenue to replace what they lost, they are on pace for 15-20% growth for 2012. Even better, Kilpatrick IT will very likely see their first 7 figure year in 2013. Please join me in congratulating Kevin and the team at Kilpatrick IT on this award. I am expecting more great things out of Kevin and his team in the years to come.
The Partner of the Year award is earned by the partner who over the last year has demonstrated focus, drive, determination, business growth and the ability to think out of the box. I am proud to announce the 2012 Partner of the Year was awarded to Paul Bush and the team at OneSource Technology in Derby, KS. Paul and I (pictured on the left) are in our second year of working together. In the time that we’ve been engaged, OneSource Technology has seen steady double digit growth. However, this year Paul exceeded the normal growth rate. He essentially went on a shopping spree. In 2012 OneSource successfully acquired a number of their competitive firms. Just last week, Paul shared his financial numbers for the end of Q3. He is once again on track to surpass the forecasts that we made in 2011. It is with great pleasure that I congratulate Paul and the team at OneSource Technology for all of their hard work and success and name them my 2012 Partner of the Year.
I am very proud of all the efforts that each of my partners puts forth each day. I would like to thank them all for being open to my input and advice. Every one of them is doing an amazing job in growing their business and excelling as business and industry leaders. I am looking forward to our spring meeting which is tentatively scheduled for either Arizona or Florida in March 2013.
