Just the other day I wrote about my year in review. While 2016 wasn’t my best year, it is now in the past. Today I am looking ahead into 2017 and I feel that I am fully prepared for this New Year.
Work is ready.
The team and I at Infratactix have been working hard to get ready for the New Year. We have updated processes, installed a new phone system and conducted an in-depth review of our current clients so we are able to fulfill their business technology needs in the year ahead.
Personal life is ready.
Loree and I have always been great at collaborating to put plans into action. We have been working on our financial budget planning for the year. As a big part of this, we will be downsizing our home in 2017, cutting out a lot of the “stuff” and living a simpler life. There is no need for a family of 2 to have a house the size that we have, even though I work from home. I am hopeful that it will all come together.
We have plans to travel in the new year as much as possible considering Loree just got a new job. We hope to take trips on Ruby around the Southwest, visit Disneyland, Hawaii, Loree’s home state of Washington as well as other places we truly enjoy and hopefully visit some new destinations.
Another plan for 2017 is to spend more time with our friends and family, you never know how much time you have left. My mother-in-law Mary Ann is now 90 years old. While Mary Ann may not remember everything, she sure has some stories to tell and is always able to make us happy and smile. My parents are no spring chickens either and as they get up in age they will need us to be more available to help them out. We have some great friends that we don’t spend enough time with. Many of the people we consider great friends are out of state in places like California, Texas, Wisconsin (where I go a lot for work) and Florida. In 2017 I plan to make the effort to see them more often and enjoy their company.
As I look forward to the year ahead I can’t help but think of the people who passed in 2016, so many celebrities (David Bowie, Prince, Carrie Fisher, Alan Rickman) and personal heroes (Sen. John Glen, Muhammad Ali). While we grieve their loss, we still move forward and know that these people, while we may not have personally known them, impacted our lives.
I believe 2017 will be a year of great successes and changes for all of us. Here in the United States we have a new administration coming into The White House. While I didn’t place my vote for the new President, I do respect the office and have hope for the next four years.
Staying on the subject of success and change, I have a number of friends who are starting new businesses in the US and abroad. We have discussed their business plans and, for what it’s worth, I did give them a little advice. I strongly believe they will be very successful and their markets will embrace their businesses.
As I close out this, my last post of 2016, I need to give a shout out and wish my good friend and mentor Rob Ryan God speed as he takes his business, GrowthHax, to the next level. Rob has been working tirelessly on GrowthHax for the last 2 years and it is gaining great momentum. I am so proud of everything he has accomplished to date and know he will accomplish in the New Year.
On that note, I wish you all a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2017. I hope that all your plans come to fruition and you succeed in everything you do.
All the best,
